Why a download can fail and what to try

Most failures come from the source link, access restrictions or a temporary connection problem. Start with these quick checks.

Check the complete URL

Open the video in your browser and copy its full address again. Supported links use youtube.com or youtu.be. A channel page, search page or incomplete address is not a single video link.

Confirm the video is public

Private, deleted, members-only, age-restricted or region-restricted content may not be available. A video that works while you are signed in may still be unavailable here.

Wait for live streams to finish

An active live stream may not have a complete file to prepare. Try again after the broadcast has ended and the normal video page is available.

Choose a listed resolution

Available resolutions differ from one video to another. Inspect the link again and select one of the qualities shown for that source instead of expecting every video to include 1080p or 4K.

Retry a temporary failure

Network interruptions and source-side changes can cause occasional failures. Refresh the page, inspect the link again and make one new attempt. Repeated failures usually mean the source is restricted or temporarily unsupported.

Keep the download tab open

The final link works once. Let the browser finish receiving the file before closing the tab or cancelling the download. The temporary copy is removed after delivery.

Helpful things to remember

If a YouTube video download fails, start by opening the link in a private browser window. This is a quick way to check whether the video is genuinely public without relying on an account that is already signed in.

Trying a smaller MP4 resolution can help when a very large video is interrupted. For audio, original audio is usually the quickest choice, while long MP3 files need more time before the download button appears.
